Recently, when Jason Lioh was trying to download and install Storm Codec 6.11 from Softpedia on his new Vista-powered laptop, he couldn't successfully complete the download. So, I suggested him another 2 alternative sites, to download Storm Codec 7.02.01 from Free-Codecs.com, or BaoFeng II from its official China site.
Guess what, the installers from both Free-Codecs.com and BaoFeng.com were bundled with Trojan horse. Ya, even from its official China site, ridiculous isn't it? Avast! running on Jason's laptop has detected the claimed Trojan.
So, please be aware when trying to install downloaded freeware. At least, scan the installer against viruses before installation, or make sure you have an active anti-virus scanning engine running.

Alternatively, you can also choose XP Codec pack as an alternative to Storm Codec.
