Not surprisingly, but the term "paperless" is becoming more like a commercial and cosmetic terms in business proposal, or simply to make up more points in Mission Statements and Project Objectives :)
However, come to think about it, is paperless feasible??
Based on my career experiences in enterprise web-based systems, I've yet to see any production system which doesn't have a Print or Printable View button. Doesn't the print function require paper? So is it still considered a paperless environment?
The answer is definite, I personally believe no single business or government entity can get away from paper.
But, to certain extend, thanks to database-driven data management, electronic systems are meant to reduce the consumption or need for papers. So, shouldn't it be called paper less (minimized paper consumption), and not paperless?
Fellow executives out there, shouldn't you revise the usage of cosmetic term? ;)
