Thaipusam falls on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai, when the constellation of Pusam, the star of well-being, rises over the eastern horizon. Needless to mention, Thaipusam 2007 is on tomorrow, 1st Feb. Shame of me, though I'm living in the harmonious multi-racial Malaysia, but I don't know much about the Thaipusam festival, as in how the rituals are practiced and how the festival is celebrated.
Talking about Thaipusam in Malaysia, the renown Batu Cave is undeniably a synonym for this festival hehe. The Thaipusam festival at Batu Cave is one of the most interesting annual tourism attractions in Malaysia, and this event is also highlighted in Visit Malaysia Year 2007 event calendar.
Since I've hooked up to an interest called "photography" after getting myself a Lumix FZ30, I decided to spend my day of tomorrow, on casual photography for Thaipusam festival at Batu Cave ;) This will be my first attempt shooting for crowded festival, but I'm sure the experience is rewarding, regardless of the uncertain end results that I'll get hehe.
My objects of interest for tomorrow are the devotees, colorful Kavadis, as well as trance-like state Kavadi bearers.
I believe the crowd at Batu Cave gonna be terrible on tomorrow. Transportation wise, I've planned to get there by trains network :) Firstly, I'll get to KL Sentral from Kelana Jaya by Putra LRT. Then, I'll proceed to KTM Sentul station by KTM Komuter. From the results of googling, I learned that KTM actually operates a special diesel coach from Sentul station to Batu Cave, to cater for this festival. Great!
All right, let's see if I'll meet any familiar face on tomorrow at Batu Cave haha. No matter what photography results that I'll be getting, I won't be shy to share them in this blog hahahaha. It's the experience that counts ;)
