Here we are, gladly staying alive through 2007 haha. Yes, waking up in the morning witnessing another new day is an appreciative bless.
After resting for almost a week, though I’m physically and spiritually energized, but it takes a while firing up the engine into working mood :p Anyway, no matter what, it’s a brand new year, and we shall begin the first day of work with full of motivation for the beginning of a new milestone.
Flashing Back 2006
2006 was important for me in the aspect of personal career. After spending half a year in 2005 to dwell myself into a software engineer’s life in my current company, 2006 was the time I aimed to shine my half-filled-vessel skills.
I’m glad full to be given an exceptionally satisfying working environment as my first job. Friendly, helpful and selfishless colleagues, manager with excellent leadership, politic-free environment, enjoyable working life; at times I can’t believe that I have them all.
Though I love and enjoy computer programming, but I prefer not to work in the field of software engineering for too long. I want to kick-start my career in a job nature that allows me to polish up my technical skills, but eventually I would like to apply the techie skills earned into consultation-like job. I like to interact with people, like to share my opinions, but the context must be technically software related *winks*
As the general belief goes, it’s important to have an excellent manager who appreciates your efforts, offers you opportunities and gives you guidance, in order to kick-start a career path of your wish. Yes, I’m absolutely blessed, that I have a manager as described :)
He understands my career interest, even without me telling him about my wish. End of last year, a day in Oct 2006, he inquired my willingness of switching to another department to advance my career path. As the new job is something that I’m looking forward, I accepted the job promotion without a second thought.
So, here I am, switching my role after 16 months, from software engineer to system analyst. My new job scope still allows me to have ample opportunities to play with hand-on programming, but at the same time dealing a lot with interpersonal relationships and communications. A balance of both worlds.
Looking Forward
Now that I’ve achieved a significant milestone in 2006, but all I want for 2007 is to focus on doing better in my new job scopes. The technical competency and soft skills that I need to acquire in order to be a better system analyst, is simply borderless.
Career aside, still, I will surely keep this blog alive, as I enjoy writing. I’m looking forward to steal some free time and set up a photo blog to share some humble newbie-photographer’s pictures haha.
On the luxury side, I’m wishing to save additional Ringgits on top of fixed saving, to get a PDA-phone as replacement for my existing SE K500 hehe. I need a more sophisticated mobile gadget. Besides, as usual, I want to have vacation at least 3 times in a year. Be it a local or oversea destination, it doesn’t matter; most important is to have relaxing time.
